At Hitherto, we specialize in providing a comprehensive range of services aimed at supporting the dying & their loved ones during their sacred end-of-life journey.

We understand the uniqueness of each person’s experience. Therefore, our approach is highly personalized, offering tailored packages designed to meet the specific needs of each client. This customization considers several factors:

Personalization Process

We recognize that individuals may be at different stages of their journey towards the end of life. Our services are adapted to support clients wherever they are in this process, ensuring they receive appropriate care and attention.

Stage in the Dying Process:

Respecting & honoring the personal wishes of our clients is paramount. We work closely with individuals to understand their preferences & ensure that their wishes guide the care & support we provide.

Individual Wishes:

End-of-life care extends beyond the individual to their loved ones and caregivers. Our services include support for family members and caregivers, helping them navigate this challenging time with compassion and understanding.

Family & Caregiver Support:

End-of-Life Doula Services

We offer a wide range of services aimed at providing a holistic experience that enhances comfort and dignity for everyone involved. Whether it's emotional support, practical assistance, quietly holding space for the dying, or something in between, we are here. Our goal is to provide peace and clarity to you and your loved ones during this sacred time.

Free Initial Consultation: In this 30-minute consultation, we will discuss your goals and needs, and collaboratively determine how we can best support you and your family moving forward.

Advanced Directives: Here we will explore, in detail, your personal wishes and end-of-life preferences. Together, we will develop and review a personalized plan that reflects your wants & needs ensuring your choices are clearly outlined.

Vigil Planning: This is your opportunity to be an active participant in planning your final days/hours. How do you envision that time? Do you see yourself at home or outside in nature? Would you like to be surrounded by loved ones or visited individually? Would you prefer music, flowers, or candles? This guided plan can help you feel empowered & in control, and allow space for celebration over fear for your loved ones.

Remembrance Projects: Together we can design meaningful creations to preserve & celebrate your life. These projects offer loved ones a beautiful way to remember & connect with you even after your physical presence is no longer with them. Remembrance projects can take various forms, such as:

Personal Memorabilia: Creating albums, recipes, “how-to” guides for loved ones to carry on where you leave off.

Charitable Contributions: Setting up scholarship funds or donations to causes that are important to you.

Heirlooms/Keepsakes: Crafting objects that can be passed down through generations.

Documentaries/Writings: Creating memoirs, videos, or recordings to tell your life story and share your wisdom.

Estate/Bereavement Cleanout Services: These services assist families and friends in organizing and clearing out the belongings of a loved one after their death, providing practical and emotional support during this difficult time. *Services often include sorting, packing, donating, or disposing of items with respect, dignity, and compassion.

  • “…Every time Sandy walked into his room with a big grin, my dad lit up too.”

  • "Sandy turned a particularly stressful situation into a positive memory for us. She naturally turned the topic to my parents asking them how they met. She provided a space for them to share. The story ended in laughter as my parents disagreed on *a few* details. I hadn't seen my family laugh and smile like that in months.”

  • "Sandy's visits brought a positive presence and joy to a deeply challenging situation when we needed it most as a family. She knew just what to say and how to help a situation in just her timing."

  • "Sandy brought so much loving kindness, experience, & knowledge to the table. I know my best friend appreciated her calming presence."
